I am a former small-town girl enjoying life in the “big” city of Seattle. I grew up in Cashmere, Washington, which is the geographic center of the state and home to almost 3,000 people. My current home in Maple Leaf has a perfect blend of my old and new life.

I graduated from Seattle University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. After taking a short break to travel through Europe and volunteer with the Red Cross to aid Hurricane Katrina victims, I hunkered down and became a member of the working world.

In the daytime, I am an account supervisor at GMMB, a communications and advertising company that works for clients that address important social issues, from education to global health.

In the evening, I hang out with my two rescue dogs Riley and Sam (come on, are they not the cutest?), love game nights with friends, and am slowly working on a YA novel. I also am a proud geek -- however you define the word. I am currently PR Manager for a great organization called GeekGirlCon, and some of my favorite "geeky" things include:

  • Firefly
  • Lord of the Rings
  • Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
  • Doctor Who
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • NASA and anything related to the worlds beyond our world
